Our Schools
The Study and Work course offers students the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification through the ‘Workskills Plus’ programme as well as gain valuable and paid work experience in the hotel industry. Paid placements are also available in a wide range of businesses such as IT, web design, marketing, charities, environmental consultancy, recruitment and insurance among others.
Course Content
The course is accredited by Edexcel one of the UK’s leading awarding bodies and leads to a qualification at BTEC (Business & Technology Education Council) level 3.

Workskills Plus Course Structure and Timetable
OPTION A:
26 weeks classroom – based study + 26 weeks work placement. 10.00 – 13.15 or 14.15 – 17.30
OPTION B:
18 weeks classroom – based study + 18 weeks work placement. 10.00 – 13.15 or 14.15 – 17.30
START DATES:
1st Monday of each month throughout the year.
Entry requirements
Students will have an intermediate level (IELTS 5.5) of English. Students not currently at this level have the option of following an English language course prior to commencing the Workskills Plus course. Students must have completed education up to pre-university level. (Please note that students applying from India should have completed university level education).
Certificates will be required to demonstrate the level of education completed as well as the level of English. Students will also have to take the school test as well as pass a SKYPE interview.
Assessment
Skola is an approved Edexcel examination centre and authorised to carry out internal assessments. You will receive a Certificate in Workskills from Edexcel on successful completion of the course.
Work placements
Work placements are dependent on the successful completion of the study programme, students having the requisite level of English as well as having a flexible and positive attitude towards the placement. Work placements in hotels will often include accommodation. There is normally a charge. Please note that not all hotels will offer accommodation. If this is the case the school will assist you to find a suitable alternative. London hotels do not offer accommodation
Platinum Programme: 4/5 * Hotels:
Work placements in 4/5 * hotels mainly in the south of England.
Standard Programme: Other hotels:
Work placements in any calibre of hotel in the north of England or Scotland. Students will not be able choose where the work placement will be and cannot change placement except in exceptional circumstances.
Business Placements:
Paid work placements can be organised in a wide range of companies – IT – Finance – Marketing – Administration, across the UK.All work placements will be paid at least the UK minimum wage - £5.80 per hour for students aged 22 and above (March 2010). www.hmrc.gov.uk/nmw/
EU - European Union - Students:
As students do not need to apply for a visa there are flexible programmes available in terms of Work & Study options.

You will need to send your CV (resume) detailing your previous work experience. Previous experience in the hospitality industry is an advantage if you require a paid work placement.
We will also send a test by e mail to establish your level of written English as well as your grammar and vocabulary. An oral interview will also be carried out via SKYPE. Please note that tests must be done without any assistance and without use of a dictionary. A further test will take place on arrival at the school and students found not to have done the original test unaided may be excluded from the course without refund of fees.
Once you have passed the application process and paid the fees for your course we will send you a visa letter.
Visa requirements

Students from the EU do not require visas. Students requiring a visa will be charged £10 for the CAS (Confimation of Acceptance for Studies).
